So I have to drive into the city every Tuesday these days. Work in the office. Then kill fourteen hours until I can work eight more hours and then drive back home. The trick is killing those between hours without being bored to death, or spending too much money. So enter Capitol Guitars. Nice little guitar shop and some music types hanging around there. Occasionally I hear some good tunes. I've gotten to know this guy Joe.
Great music in downtown Chippewa Falls this evening. Some bluegrass inspired rock and roll at Every Buddy's and right next door at The Snout Saloon was female fronted rock & pop. The weather was perfect for walking. The stars were out. It was great to be alive, free and out to enjoy the life of downtown.
I was out on my own this night mostly to catch Convenience Store Flowers at Every Buddy's Bar, and I had just found out about a second band playing next door at The Snout. The weather was perfect for walking. It was my maiden voyage down pristinely new sidewalks all the way from my house to the bar. Sweet!
This is kind of rough and unfinished. I am just going to hit publish anyway.
A few months ago I got the email. I barely had the message relayed when I had my answer back. "Yes, buy them!" she said. Less than two weeks later I opened the envelope and the tickets were in my hand. Godsmack and Seether at Target Center in Minneapolis. We were going! Then after a long wait of several months the show was over with nothing left but to write the review.
Just a short post. More or less a placeholder for a show we have attended and a place for me to drop the links to the videos I shot that night. Soil and Tantric on stage at Every Buddy's with warmup provided by the band Picard.
I really wanted to catch Picard. After kicking in for their Kickstarter, I had never seen the band perform live. Late though. Always late. I got there just as they announced their last song. That is the video attached here. I like the sound. Someday I need to catch their full show.
A while back a guy with the unlikely Facebook name of Joseph Mountain wrote to me and suggested I should check out his band. Though years sometimes, and in this case did, go by before the stars aligned and I got to see them, I am glad I eventually did. The summer draws to a close and we got a chance to enjoy those last days of warm weather while the wintertime music scene is just spooling up. Black River Review was playing at Every Buddy's Bar and Grill and it was a great night to be out on the town!
Earlier this week my friend The Lawyer asked me if I would be interested at all in going to a Gillian Welch concert with he and his wife. Free concert? Good seats? Yeah sure, I was interested. The name was familiar to me. I know that part of it is we sit around The Lawyer's front yard quite a lot quaffing wine and admiring our joint garden. While there he pipes music though the speakers he had wired a couple of years back. Often times I think Gillian is in the mix he plays. But I felt like I knew the name outside of that. Sunday night, State Theater? Sign us up!
