i recently got a 6220 corn/pellet furnace that i plan to install this spring/summer. my main concern is the vent pipe. i have a johnson 9900 wood burning furnace installed right now that is being replaced by the 6220. the wood furnace is hooked up to a 6" x 25' liner that runs inside of the masonary chimney. can the 6220 be hooked up to the 6" liner and work properly? has anybody else ever do this? also when you bought your 6100/6220 furnace, did it come with an ash removal tool or burnpot poker tool?

I know it said in my directions for the simpson duravent kit, that you could run 3" or 4" pipe up the liner, to the roof, and use the appropriate termination cap. As this is needed for appropriate ventilation, etc.

However, I helped a friend of mine hook up his new Harman a few years back. Where he can out of the stove the 3", to to the clean out tee, 4 feet vertical to a 3" to 6" coupler to an existing wood stove pipe. He has yet to have any issues and uses this as his primary heat source.

He is in his 3rd heating season now, with monthly maintenance, and the stove is no worse for the wear.

You'll need to go by the stoves install instructions. Usually that's what your insurance and local zoning will go by. You need to check with them also incase they have stricter regulations on that type of install.

i never cut it in half but i did cut some peices of steel to help keep the pellets from bouncing out but i was running clinker style not with a stirrer pot. i do think a little bit of an extension on the sides with a stirrer would help some but the ash would still have to be able to go somewhere so it probably shouldn't be too high of an extension. also you will want all of that extension on the front of the pot it helps alot.
