The Washington Independent is reporting that the new law that allows Michigan's governor Rick Snyder to appointment emergency managers with broad powers to dissolve existing contracts for towns and localities is "already forcing public workers to accept new concessions."

Nothing personal, steve, but how can you blame Walker for binge drinking? He's only been in office since Jan. 3, 2011. I'm sure the "stats" involved in making the chart were taken from a much larger block of time. Are you really going to tell us that Wisconsin had NO problems until Walker was elected?

Funny how it's all Walker's fault after just a few months in office but Obama is still getting a pass after over 2 years.

I agree. These problems have developed over many
years of mis management. Both parties have allowed
over spending, robbing of funds and extreme pay raises.

We certainly can not run our house holds or business
this way.

Just my opinion.

So who came up with those headings for states?? Quite a few are very subjective in nature. Who judges the ugliest residents...antisocial behavior...nerdiest...weakest government influence? Some headings are statistical and therefore provable...the others are just an opinion. IMHO, most opinions don't mean jack...

I do resent them being offered up as "fact-based" however. Lots of people out there that take these pseudo-news postings as gospel. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of critical thinking out in public land anymore. Too many sheep...following media based opinion couched as fact.

RE: SteveG--See you mentioned home brew.. I used to also. That was when has a helper and we shared the 2 cases of brew batch. We did the from scratch, grains, toast the seeds, had cappers, water bottles for the batch, cleners, and hydrometer, grinder etc. Also remember to save "Fired Beer bottles--reg bottles not the non returnable ones as they are not fired and will not hold the fermentng after capping. Have stored evrything for a while as need a little help to continue making the brews. Have saved all the recipes. I liked the dark ales and he liked the light wheat beers. We changed off every other batch. Best beer, India ale, worst beer was ginger beer. (Was probably OK but when the said only use so much ginger we thought it was too little and inceased the shavings. Big mistake. Ugh.

Oh ya beer brewing is a bit of a hobby and I am growing my own hops. 5 gallon batches and brown bottles and flip top bottles. This beer you don't drink a case in a night. If you drink a case that would be called binge drinking if you could get up in the morning:))

I'm with you, steadywoman. Most of the states, just like the Feds and even local governments have enjoyed little oversight and abused the system mightily to please the unions and inflate wages well beyond any employee's true worth. The day of reckoning has arrived. People just have to wake up to reality and stop listening to the Unions trying to save their OWN inflated salaries and egos.
The past is only as far away as the last breath you took.
