No, his AC broke!

The heat has been tough for me too. I'm on a quest to get maximum fuel economy in my new used car (VW turbodiesel). Joining the club requires 3 tanks in a row of more than 1000 miles and 60 mpg. So I've been driving on my 60 mile one-way commute without AC, and with the windows up to reduce drag. Those 97F days are pretty tough!
